This is Five...

Brian turned FIVE today!!
What a difference a year makes...
...and what a year Brian has had.

I wrote last year on his birthday that Brian has been a "spirit lifter" from day one.
That hasn't changed!!  The past eight months since Gavin died have proved it once again.  His positive spirit has seen him through some sad days - and has seen us through our grief.
Brian's always had an infectious smile and a totally contagious laugh!!
He's been through so much this year.  A new school - the death of his brother - the loss of seeing Miss Sara at the house on a daily basis - his Mother's pregnancy - and the birth of his sister.  That's a lot for an adult, let alone a four year old child!!  But he has handled it all so well...and we are so, very proud of him.
I'm interviewing Brian right now for these answers:

Right now, Brian is really REALLY into Star Wars, Angry Birds and wooden building blocks.  His favorite food is "junk."
His favorite movie is Rio.  Favorite song?  Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  And every time Hope cries, he breaks into the sweetest version of it to soothe her.

I think he's going to rock year five.
Brian celebrated his birthday in school today!  I made, by request, Star Wars cupcakes - of course.
Brian enjoys sharing his favorite things with his friends on his birthday.  So today, Hope and I brought an Angry Birds Star Wars plush toy for each of his ten classmates.  Wrapped in Star Wars paper, of course!!  The girls all got a Princess Leia doll...
...and the boys got Darth Vader or Storm Troopers.  And Brian got a new bird, too!  A C3-PO!  He loved handing out the presents to each of his friends.
He had a little playdate with his friend, Daniel in the afternoon.  And a trip to Arnold's Family Fun Center with Daddy when he got home from work!

It was a great day for our little monkey.  And a fun start to what I know will be a wonderful year for him...filled with lots of memory making times with his family.

Happy Birthday, Brian!
We love you so much.

  6. Happy Birthday Brian. Wishing you a wonderful and joyful year 5.

  7. I can't tell you how much I enjoy your blog. When Facebook shows me a new one is up, I get so happy, because I love reading about your family. Brian makes my heart melt! And he gets so cute as he gets older, but I already miss the cute 2 and 3 year old I first met when I originally started reading your blog. This is the first time I have commented; I live in Wilmington, DE, just minutes from AI duPont Hospital. Some days I think Hope looks exactly like Brian, and some days all I can see is Gavin. She seems like a peaceful little soul, and is a lucky girl to have Brian as her big brother. I love your little family and I thank you for letting us watch it grow and change. Much love to you all and Happy Birthday to Brian!

  8. Happy Birthday !!!!! Littleman may this year bring you nothing but joy !!!

  9. What an awesome day ! Happy 5th Birthday Brian!!! "Strong the FORCE is with this one"-Yoda ..we love his smile it shine so brightly!! <3 sending all our love and hugs

  10. I love it! My son had just turned 4 when my daughter was born, and he did the same thing...any time she would cry or when he thought she "needed" him, he would sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to her. It would make my heart smile every time. We're so lucky to have such sweet natured boys!

  11. Happy Fifth brian!

  12. Brian, I am glad you had such an awesome birthday. Your parents sure know how to show you a good time! Also: May the force be with you.

  13. Hope you had a wonderful birthday Brian :-)
